An energy company was approaching the 100th anniversary of its founding. The compliance officer discovered two letters to all employees – one written by the original chief executive and one from the CEO 50 years later – discussing company values. The compliance officer wanted to do something special to commemorate the 100th anniversary and tie it to the values. The challenge was having only a couple weeks to create it.

The company was fortunate to employ an internal creative media resource. ELG worked with the media department and the compliance officer to create a vision for a short Flash-based animated “video” that could be launched from an e-mail sent to all employees. We wrote a script, incorporating the CEO letters, that looked at the long legacy of values at the company over its entire history. The company’s media department programmed and narrated the piece and launched it by e-mail to all employees on the actual day of the 100th anniversary.

Employees were surprised and pleased when they saw the unexpected commemoration in their e-mail that morning. Hearing about the longevity of the company’s values reinforced their feeling of being supported by a culture where doing what’s right counts. The “video” was so effective that it was re-purposed as an addition to the manager and employee ethics and compliance training programs that year.
