- Guiding program development
Each ethics, corporate responsibility and compliance program confronts different challenges and opportunities. We assist clients in implementing the systems most appropriate for their circumstances. We do not believe in a “one size fits all” approach.
For a major financial institution, we assisted them in developing a just-in-time training program linked to employee business travel. This system ensures that busy professionals receive the training they need when it is most likely to be useful – for example, receiving training on how to handle gifts and entertainment right before a trip to the Middle East.
For a major pharmaceutical company, we implemented a world-wide risk assessment focused on product labeling and interactions with health-care providers. The risk assessment allowed the ethics and compliance office to focus its efforts on those regions where the impact would be greatest.
- Conducting sensitive investigations
Ethical Leadership Group can serve as your impartial and independent investigator into ethics and compliance concerns.
Many organizations have the resources to conduct investigations on their own, but sometimes you need help – particularly if the investigation involves high-level personnel with oversight power over the ethics and compliance program.
- Coaching company leaders
Do you have a new ethics officer who would like to avoid the traps others have fallen into? A top performer who needs a little grounding in ethical discernment or treating others with respect? We can help.
Ethical Leadership Group offers confidential, personal and effective leadership coaching. This service is designed for your company’s leaders – whether in the ethics and compliance function or elsewhere – to assist them in achieving their full potential.
- Implementing confidential employee reporting systems
Your company’s ethics and compliance program is only as effective as its confidential reporting systems. If your employees and stakeholders do not trust the system, they will not use it.
We assist organizations with designing and implementing comprehensive reporting systems that users themselves believe are effective. We do not provide Helpline services ourselves, but work with companies to implement internal systems that work with outside providers. We also help companies interested in receiving questions as well as reports to set up internal systems to do so.
Our approach to confidential employee reporting systems is informed by a multi-year research effort, conducted in partnership with the Ethics and Compliance Officer Association.
- Assisting with ethics and compliance program integration into the organization’s current human resources systems
How big is your ethics and compliance team? None that we know of is big enough to do everything on their own. They rely on strong partnerships with line management, legal, audit, and human resources.
Under the new Sentencing Guidelines, human resources might be the most important ally of all. Ethics and compliance must be integrated into hiring, performance appraisals, promotions, incentives, discipline–almost the entire HR life cycle. Our team–with experience in legal, ethics, compliance, audit and hr–will help functions work together to build the culture of integrity they all share as a goal.
- Putting into operation an ethical sourcing strategy
Companies are increasingly asking suppliers to demonstrate their commitment to ethical sourcing. Supplier codes of conduct, which have become quite common, generally include environmental, social and anticorruption provisions. These codes and related efforts are designed to ensure supply chains that satisfy basic standards of ethics and responsibility.
ELG helps companies – whether customers or suppliers – design and implement ethical sourcing strategies and programs. Our team members have successfully developed such programs for global companies sourcing from countries around the globe.
- Expert-witness services
Business disputes are inevitable. Sometimes, these disputes require an organization to demonstrate that it had an effective ethics and compliance program. Ethical Leadership Group’s team members can provide independent and expert analysis and judgment about ethics programs.
- Providing key ethics and compliance functions as an outsourced partner
Ethical Leadership Group can be your outsourced partner for routine and non-routine ethics and compliance office functions. Some organizations find this approach valuable as it ensures those outsourced program aspects are in the hands of world-class experts, without the need to spend on permanent headcount. These outsourced functions can include: communication; training; policy development; investigations; ongoing risk assessment; program auditing and monitoring; and assessments.
The ELG outsourcing approach gives you the peace of mind that the ethics and compliance functions are being done by knowledgeable professionals who will provide you with products and services of the highest quality.
Many organizations rely on Ethical Leadership Group’s expertise to transform their ethics and compliance strategies into action. We do this in the following ways:
